Early goals doom Peoria, falls to North Iowa, 11-0Fox Valley NHL Rink Sat, Mar 30, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Peoria Mustangs fell behind early, and the North Iowa Bulls kept piling on the points on the way to an 11-0 victory. The win gave North Iowa a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. Matt Kroska was all over the ice for the Bulls, as he tallied two goals and three assists in the win. Kroska scored the first of his two goals at 5:24 into the first period to make the score 2-0 North Iowa. Richie Marenis picked up the assist. Kroska's next tally made the score 5-0 North Iowa with 7:21 left in the first period. Marenis assisted on the tally. North Iowa made Peoria's goaltenders to work between the pipes, firing 60 shots and forcing 49 saves. Michael Parda made 17 stops and Alex Reichle made 32. The Bulls did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying just one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The defensemen of North Iowa were also effective in the Mustangs' zone, and came away with two goals. North Iowa also got points from Ron Lindgren, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Eric Behrend, who also registered two goals and two assists, Patrick Sivets, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Kyle Krueger, who also had one goal and one assist, Andrew Halama, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Marenis, who also registered one goal and three assists. North Iowa also got a goal from Bryan Broders as well. Other players who recorded assists for North Iowa were McFarlanne B, Connor Langfield, Matthew Fosdick, Timothy Santopoalo, Conor Jonasson, and Taylor Brown, who each chipped in one. Matthew Bartels recorded 17 saves for the Bulls. North Iowa registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Peoria ended with no penalties and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
