Szustak leads Cleveland over St. Louis, 7-4

Behind a great game by Dallas Szustak, who had two goals and two assists, the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks defeated the St. Louis Jr. Blues, 7-4.

Szustak's tallies came at 15:39 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and 15:21 into the third to make the score 5-4 Cleveland.

The win gave Cleveland a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

The Jr. Lumberjacks forced St. Louis goalie Clint Steinmeyer to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Cleveland also got points from Mike Palasics, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Cleveland also had goals scored by Louis Sawchik, who had one and Cameron Dimmitt, who had two. In addition, Cleveland received assists from David Fassbender, who had two and Kyle Gonzalez, Jeff Monfils, Dominic Valencia, and Toms Taurins, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Blues made Cleveland's goalies to work without much rest, taking 39 shots and forcing 35 saves. Joseph Moza made 35 stops and Nick Danczak made zero.

St. Louis was led by Jeremy Edwards, who racked up one goal and two assists. Edwards scored 5:05 into the third period to make the score 4-2 St. Louis. Victor Gortz assisted on the tally. St. Louis additionally got points from Kerry McGlynn, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Ryan Hogland also scored for St. Louis. More assists for St. Louis came via Lucas Stewart, who had one.

The Jr. Lumberjacks finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-0 with the man advantage. Clint Steinmeyer made 34 saves for the Jr. Blues on 40 shots. St. Louis ended with no penalties and went 0-for-0 on the power play.
