New Hampshire downs NY AppleCore in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The New Hampshire Jr Monarchs' Shane Tracy scored 18:54 into overtime to beat the NY AppleCore Minor B, 6-5 (OT).

The win gave New Hampshire a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

The Jr Monarchs overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. New Hampshire trailed 3-1 after a power play goal by NY AppleCore's Liam Pues at 3:34 in the second period. The Jr Monarchs tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Pues at 17:52 in the third period.

New Hampshire pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 58 penalty minutes.

The Jr Monarchs' offense rang up 42 shots on the Minor B's net. The defense for New Hampshire tightened up when it had players in the penalty box, as it let in one goal on 13 NY AppleCore power plays.

New Hampshire also got a goal from Connor Merrick as well. More assists for New Hampshire came via Eric Grover, who had two and Shane Earley, Davis Algra, Christopher Moquin, and Brett Boyer, who each chipped in one.

The Minor B kept the Jr Monarchs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cole Burack made 46 saves on 51 shots. The defensemen of NY AppleCore were also effective in New Hampshire's zone, and came away with three goals.

NY AppleCore also got points from Andrew Barroso, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Blake Manginell, who also registered one goal and two assists. Robert DeLury also scored for NY AppleCore. In addition, NY AppleCore received assists from Kevin T Miller, who had one and Cale Schoenberg, who had three.

The Jr Monarchs registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. New Hampshire ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Adriano Mungioli was ejected from the game. Justin Kapelmaster recorded 36 saves for the Minor B. NY AppleCore incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
