Islanders blows out Bay State, 4-1Ice Vault Rink Fri, Mar 15, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Islanders had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Bay State Breakers. The win gave Islanders a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. Christopher Maksut was all over the ice for Islanders, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Maksut scored the first of his two goals at 11:18 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Islanders. David Wilcox assisted on the tally. Maksut's next tally made the score 3-0 Islanders with 7:28 left in the first period. Wilcox picked up the assist. Islanders was led by goalie Michael Kitts, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Kitts managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.85 prior to the game. Islanders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Islanders forced Bay State goalie Matthew Farrell to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Jonathan Pate also scored for Islanders. Other players who recorded assists for Islanders were Christopher Gravelle, William Platt, and Justin Fisher, who contributed one a piece. The Breakers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Islanders to score on any of its four power plays. Bay State's offense rang up 32 shots on Islanders' net. The Breakers were led by Bradley Power, who scored the team's only goal. Power scored 10:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Islanders. John Sheehan assisted on the tally. Islanders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Matthew Farrell made 34 saves for Bay State on 38 shots. The Breakers ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. For Bay State, Cullen Hussey was ejected from the game.
