Philadelphia shrugs off penalties, upends Suffolk, 6-2

The Philadelphia Revolution, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Suffolk Juniors' power play opportunities and emerged with a 6-2 victory.

The win gave Philadelphia a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

The Revolution were paced by Alex Dyer, who tallied one goal. Dyer scored 17:08 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Philadelphia. Travis Kauffman picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, Suffolk was led by Cameron Smith, who finished with two goals. Smith scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:21 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Philadelphia. A hooking penalty on Zachary England had put the Juniors on the power play. Joseph Duszak provided the assist. Smith's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Philadelphia with 19:07 left in the third period. Michael Leone picked up the assist.

Philadelphia forced Suffolk goalie Peter Fosso to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Philadelphia additionally got points from Taylor Glanding, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Dylan Pearl also scored for Philadelphia. Other players who recorded assists for Philadelphia were Clint Aussprung, Donald Willier, Daniel Coley, Jeffery Mitchell, and Anthony Carbone, who each chipped in one.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Jared Burch made 26 saves for the Revolution on 28 shots. Philadelphia incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Fosso rejected 29 shots on goal for the Juniors. Suffolk incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
