Stratford outlasts Waterloo, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Stratford Cullitons escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Waterloo Siskins.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Trevor Sauder's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The win by Stratford clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

The Cullitons were led by Sauder, who had one goal. Sauder scored short handed 17:41 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Stratford. Stratford found itself down a man on Brett Heaman's hooking.

The Cullitons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Waterloo to score on any of its four power plays. Stratford forced the Siskins goalie PJ Bridges to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Stratford also got points from Shane O Brien, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Stratford also got a goal from Ryan Watson as well. More assists for Stratford came via Liam Maaskant, who had two and Dylan Wettlaufer and Jake Ryan, who contributed one a piece.

Waterloo was led by Ryan Doucette, who finished with one goal and one assist. Doucette scored 3:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Waterloo. James Soper also scored for Waterloo. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Trevor Atkinson APJ, who had one.

Nick Caldwell rejected 23 shots on goal for the Cullitons. Stratford incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Bridges recorded 34 saves for the Siskins. Waterloo incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
