BLUEWATER vanquishes CAMBRIDGE in shootout, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as BLUEWATER defeated CAMBRIDGE in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed 22 turns to complete the shootout. CAMBRIDGE's shootout goal was scored by Emma Woods. BLUEWATER's other shootout goal was scored by Lauren Lefler.

After the loss made the series score 2-0 in the best of five series, CAMBRIDGE faces elimination next time out.

BLUEWATER overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. BLUEWATER fell behind 1-0 after a goal by CAMBRIDGE's Marcie Landman at 12:47 in the first period. BLUEWATER tied things up at 1-1 on a goal by Jessica Wakefield at 1:25 in the third period.

BLUEWATER stifled CAMBRIDGE's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. BLUEWATER's offense rang up 36 shots on CAMBRIDGE's net.

Other players who recorded assists for BLUEWATER were Lefler, who had one.

In addition, CAMBRIDGE received assists from Woods and Taytum Clairmont, who each chipped in one.

BLUEWATER's starting goalie, Brooke Gibson, made 18 saves and finished with the win before she was taken out in favor of Sasha Weekes, who stopped zero shots. BLUEWATER incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Julia Vandyk made 34 saves for CAMBRIDGE on 35 shots. CAMBRIDGE incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
