Currie stymies Glanbrook, Grimsby wins 3-1

Jeremy Currie stood on his head and made 26 saves to lead the Grimsby Peach Kings to a 3-1 victory over the Glanbrook Rangers.

The win by Grimsby broke a deadlock and gave the Peach Kings a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Grimsby was paced by Jordan McCarl, who registered one goal. McCarl scored 3:10 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Grimsby. Robert Wormald assisted on the tally.

Grimsby additionally got points from Jacob Tuck, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Richard Recchia also scored for Grimsby. Other players who recorded assists for Grimsby were Anthony Pullia, who had one.

Glanbrook's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Grimsby power plays.

The Rangers were led by Joel Knight, who scored the team's only goal. Knight scored on the power play 19:27 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Grimsby. Glanbrook had gained a power play chance when Adam Burt was whistled for interference. Connor McLoughlin picked up the assist.

The Peach Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Matt Sagrott made 26 saves for the Rangers on 28 shots. Glanbrook incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Rangers, Drew Jedrzejewicz was ejected from the game.
