DURHAM WEST beat OAKVILLE, 3-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Lindsay Johnston provided DURHAM WEST with the game-winning tally when she scored 3:35 into the the first period. DURHAM WEST pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes. DURHAM WEST was sparked by Kennedy Marchment, who finished with one goal. Marchment scored 2:48 into the second period to make the score 2-0 DURHAM WEST. Stephanie Cooper picked up the assist. DURHAM WEST put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow OAKVILLE to score on any of its seven power plays. DURHAM WEST also got a goal from Dakota Waites as well. More assists for DURHAM WEST came via Laura Horwood, Brittany St. James, and Taylor Edwards, who contributed one a piece. OAKVILLE's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 DURHAM WEST power plays. OAKVILLE was led by Andrea Benac, who scored the team's only goal.
