Tennyson Chevrolet shrugs off penalties, upends Soo Firehawks, 6-3

Despite having to fight off several power plays, Tennyson Chevrolet was able to defeat Soo Firehawks, 6-3.

The win by Tennyson Chevrolet clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

Tennyson Chevrolet was led by Justin Whitson, who finished with one goal and one assist. Whitson scored 42 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-3 Tennyson Chevrolet. Ryan Santo provided the assist.

Tennyson Chevrolet's offense rang up 57 shots on Soo Firehawks' net. Tennyson Chevrolet's power play was punchless, and failed to score a single goal despite having 13 power play opportunities. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Tennyson Chevrolet also got points from Zachary Wiacek, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Anthony Wojciechowski, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Dalton Pennington also scored for Tennyson Chevrolet. More assists for Tennyson Chevrolet came via Joseph Matyaszek, Ryan Brown, and Zachary Chapman, who each chipped in one.

Soo Firehawks stifled Tennyson Chevrolet's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Soo Firehawks was helped by John Barlow, who registered one goal. Barlow scored 7:24 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Tennyson Chevrolet. Anthony Laaksonen assisted on the tally. Soo Firehawks additionally got points from Lucas McLeod, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Soo Firehawks also got a goal from Andrew Holder as well. Other players who recorded assists for Soo Firehawks were Kevin Killips, who had one and Brandt Miller, who had two.

Chris Lewis made 22 saves for Tennyson Chevrolet on 25 shots. Tennyson Chevrolet incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. John Posler rejected 51 shots on goal for Soo Firehawks. Soo Firehawks totaled 33 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. For Soo Firehawks, Holder was ejected from the game.
