Hartland Hounds uses early goal to top Bloomington Blaze, 1-0

Hartland Hounds beat Bloomington Blaze, 1-0, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

A goal 11:54 into the the first period by Alexander Grizzel proved to be the game winner, and powered Hartland Hounds to the victory Zachary Bodziak picked up the assist.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Bloomington Blaze faces elimination next time out.

Hartland Hounds was led by Grizzel, who tallied one goal.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 2:56 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Hartland Hounds excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Hartland Hounds kept Bloomington Blaze's goalie busy throughout the game, and Gavin Carlson made 30 saves on 31 shots.

More assists for Hartland Hounds came via Scott Augustyn, who had one.

Bloomington Blaze stifled Hartland Hounds' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Andrew Brownlee rejected 20 shots on goal for Hartland Hounds. Hartland Hounds totaled 39 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and three majors and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Hartland Hounds ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cameron Fisher was ejected from the game. Bloomington Blaze ended with 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors and two majors. For Bloomington Blaze, Tyler Gehrken was ejected from the game.
