Bauer lifts London over St. Thomas, 6-3

The London Nationals relied on the scoring touch of Jeff Bauer, who netted two goals, to beat the St. Thomas Stars, 6-3.

Bauer found the back of the net 11:03 into the third period to make the score 4-3 London and again while 11:53 into the third to make the score 5-3 London.

The win gave London a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Nationals' penalty kill excelled, as London gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Nationals stifled St. Thomas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

London additionally got points from Noah Schwartz, who also tallied three goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Aaron Dartch, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, London received assists from Lance Pridham, who had three, Blake Thomas, Mark Gazdic, and Matt Wildman, who contributed one a piece, and Derek Todosichuk and Sean Consitt, who each chipped in two.

The Stars were helped by Reid Oliver, who registered one goal. Oliver scored 11:31 into the second period to make the score 3-1 London. Drew Collinson provided the assist. St. Thomas also got points from Braden Hellems, who also had one goal and one assist. St. Thomas also got a goal from Martin Kudla as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Thomas were Trevor Abbott, who had two and Mike Iacocca and Colin Mooney, who contributed one a piece.

Taylor Edwards rejected 23 shots on goal for London. The Nationals incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Donald Edwards made 23 saves for St. Thomas on 28 shots. The Stars incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
