STONEY CREEK wins tough contest against BURLINGTON, 4-2

STONEY CREEK gutted out a close 4-2 win against BURLINGTON.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Teresa Horner at 14:00 of the second period.

After the loss made the series score 2-0 in the best of five series, BURLINGTON faces elimination next time out.

STONEY CREEK was paced by Horner, who tallied one goal.

STONEY CREEK additionally got points from Sydney McKibbon (C), who also racked up one goal and one assist and Sarah Nurse (A), who also had one goal and one assist. STONEY CREEK also got a goal from Madison Field as well. Other players who recorded assists for STONEY CREEK were Devon Morrison, who had two and MacAuley Carr, Kristina Kocsis, Rosie Heffernan, and Sarah Quaranta, who each chipped in one.

BURLINGTON found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against STONEY CREEK's defense.

BURLINGTON was helped by Kirsten Miller, who registered one goal. Miller scored 4:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 BURLINGTON. Logan Boyd provided the assist. Coco Sultana also scored for BURLINGTON. More assists for BURLINGTON came via Melissa Goodwin, Rachel Armstrong, and Mellissa Channell, who contributed one a piece.

Taylor Cook made 12 saves for STONEY CREEK on 14 shots. STONEY CREEK incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kyra OBrien recorded 21 saves for BURLINGTON. BURLINGTON incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
