Cobourg wins tough contest against Trenton, 4-2Cobourg Community Centre Mon, Mar 04, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cobourg Cougars and the Trenton Golden Hawks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Cobourg made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. The Cougars gained the winning advantage on a goal by Cody Mintz 15:45 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. The win by Cobourg clinched the best of seven series at 4-0. The Cougars were paced by Mintz, who racked up one goal and one assist. Cobourg forced Trenton goalie Victor Adamo to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Cobourg additionally got points from Dylan Goddard, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Taylor Gauld, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Evan Jasper also scored for Cobourg. More assists for Cobourg came via Justin Danforth and Connor Armour, who contributed one a piece. The Golden Hawks were helped by Shawn Hulshof, who tallied one goal. Hulshof scored 3:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Trenton. Greg Trichilo picked up the assist. Trenton also got points from Trichilo, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Trenton received assists from Josh Timpano, Erlich Doerksen, and Ori Abramson, who each chipped in one. CJ Sharp made 24 saves for the Cougars on 26 shots. Cobourg incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Adamo rejected 33 shots on goal for Trenton. The Golden Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
