Kincardine falls apart in second, loses to Walkerton, 6-2

The Walkerton Hawks used a three-goal second period to put away the Kincardine Bulldogs, 6-2.

The win by Walkerton clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

Connor Patton had one goal and three assists to lead the Hawks. Patton scored 13:23 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Walkerton. Drew Davidson provided the assist.

Walkerton's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Kincardine power plays. The Hawks forced Kincardine goalie Max Veilleux to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Walkerton's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Walkerton also got points from Davidson, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Walkerton also got a goal from Nathan Kramer as well. Other players who recorded assists for Walkerton were Shane MacDonald, Joel Bowman, Haden Campbell, and Nikolas McIver, who each chipped in one.

The Bulldogs were helped by Brett Catto, who finished with one goal. Catto scored 7:59 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Walkerton. Cody Britton assisted on the tally. Tanner Simpson also scored for Kincardine. More assists for Kincardine came via Joel Alton and Adam Hughes, who contributed one a piece.

The Hawks' Jeff Flagler stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Walkerton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Veilleux rejected 30 shots on goal for Kincardine. The Bulldogs incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
