Walkerton downs Kincardine in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Walkerton Hawks' Connor Patton scored 17:28 into overtime to beat the Kincardine Bulldogs, 3-2 (OT).

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Kincardine faces elimination next time out.

Lauchlin Elder had a great game for Walkerton, netting two goals. Elder found the back of the net 25 seconds into the third period to make the score 1-1 and again while 9:53 into the third to make the score 2-1 Walkerton.

The Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bulldogs to score on any of their four power plays. Kincardine was unable to stop Walkerton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 50 shots on goal.

Walkerton additionally got points from Patton, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Walkerton were Drew Davidson, who had two.

The Bulldogs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Kincardine's offense rang up 44 shots on Walkerton's net.

The Bulldogs were helped by Tanner Simpson, who had one goal. Simpson scored 17:35 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Joel Alton provided the assist. Kincardine also got points from Alton, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Kincardine came via Jamie Miller and Mike Sharpe, who each chipped in one.

Jeff Flagler recorded 42 saves for the Hawks. Walkerton incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kincardine's Gatlin Burt stopped 47 shots out of the 50 that he faced. The Bulldogs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Kincardine ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Miller was ejected from the game.
