Walkerton downs Kincardine in overtime, 4-3 (OT)Western Jr. C Sat, Mar 02, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Walkerton Hawks pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Kincardine Bulldogs on a clutch goal by Jay Thomson. The win gave Walkerton a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. Adam Alexander had one goal and two assists to lead the Hawks. Alexander scored 6:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jordan Turcotte assisted on the tally. In a losing effort, Kincardine was sparked by Adam Hughes, who registered two goals. Hughes scored the first of his two goals at 3:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kincardine. Mike Smailes picked up the assist. Hughes' next tally made the score 3-2 Kincardine with 4:49 left in the second period. The Bulldogs had gotten the advantage when Walkerton's David Gallo was sent off for hooking. Brett Catto provided the assist. The Hawks' offense rang up 47 shots on Kincardine's net. Team could not crack the Bulldogs' penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having 10 opportunities to play with the man advantage. Walkerton additionally got points from Haden Campbell, who also had one goal and one assist. Walkerton also got a goal from Brandon Lamothe as well. More assists for Walkerton came via Drew Davidson, who had one. Tanner Simpson also scored for Kincardine. In addition, Kincardine received assists from Jamie Miller and Joel Alton, who contributed one a piece. Jeff Flagler rejected 23 shots on goal for Walkerton. The Hawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Gatlin Burt recorded 43 saves for Kincardine. The Bulldogs incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. |
