Davidson leads Walkerton over Kincardine, 6-2

Drew Davidson was all over the ice for the Walkerton Hawks, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Walkerton's 6-2 win over the Kincardine Bulldogs.

Davidson scored at 5:29 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Walkerton and again while 13:08 into the third to make the score 5-2 Walkerton.

The win gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Walkerton pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 36 penalty minutes.

The Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kincardine to score on any of its six power plays. Walkerton's offense rang up 38 shots on the Bulldogs' net.

Jordan Turcotte also scored for Walkerton. In addition, Walkerton received assists from Lauchlin Elder, who had two and Nathan Kramer, Wade Pfeffer, Connor Patton, and Brandon Lamothe, who contributed one a piece.

Kincardine forced the Hawks goalie Jeff Flagler to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Bulldogs' penalty kill managed to stymie Walkerton's power play, giving up only one goal while playing with a man down.

Kincardine was led by Mike Smailes, who racked up one goal and one assist. Smailes scored 5:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kincardine. Brett Catto assisted on the tally. Kincardine also got a goal from Chad Simpson as well.

Flagler rejected 30 shots on goal for the Hawks. Walkerton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nikolas McIver was ejected from the game. Gatlin Burt recorded 32 saves for the Bulldogs. Kincardine incurred 74 minutes in penalty time with 17 minors.
