Listowel falls apart in second, loses to Kitchener, 6-1

The Listowel Cyclones allowed the Kitchener Dutchmen to net three goals during the second period and fell, 6-1.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Listowel faces elimination next time out.

Brett Clampitt had two goals and one assist to lead Kitchener. Clampitt scored the first of his two goals at 8:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Matt Guild provided the assist. Clampitt's next tally made the score 2-0 Kitchener with 18:33 left in the second period. Guild assisted on the tally.

The Dutchmen were led by goalie Marc Williams, who finished with 37 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Williams will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.1.

Kitchener's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Kitchener also got points from Philip Moser, who also registered one goal and one assist and Clayton Greer, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Eric Hammerl also scored for Kitchener. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Harrison Scarfonne, Jordan Delaurier, Dylan Bursey, Keli Grant, and Tyler Hoffman, who contributed one a piece.

The Cyclones forced the Dutchmen goalie Williams to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Kitchener incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Drew Reinhardt took the loss and made 16 saves before being replaced by Daniel Dekoning who made eight saves. Listowel incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
