Caledonia beats Brampton 4-3 after comeback scare

The Brampton Bombers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Caledonia Corvairs held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Tyler Norrie put Caledonia up 3-0 in the second period, but Brampton pulled to within one on Michael Darrigo's tally 10:15 into the third period.

The win by the Corvairs clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

Jeff Swift was all over the ice for Caledonia, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Swift scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. The Corvairs had gotten the advantage when the Bombers' Eric DiCarlo was sent off for high sticking. Brandon Montour picked up the assist. Swift's next tally on the power play made the score 2-0 Caledonia with 15:17 left in the second period. Montour provided the assist.

Caledonia forced Brampton goalie Bryan Raymond to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Corvairs had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances.

Caledonia additionally got points from Adam Brady, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. More assists for Caledonia came via Ryan Blunt and Matt Quilty, who each chipped in one.

The Bombers kept Caledonia's goalie busy throughout the game, and Marcus DelConte made 36 saves on 39 shots.

Brampton was led by Brady Clouthier, who had two goals and one assist. Clouthier scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:42 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Caledonia. An interference penalty on Mitch Brown had put the Bombers on the power play. Reid Jackman assisted on the tally. Clouthier's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 4:28 left in the third period. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Josh Villaflor, who had one.

The Corvairs incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Raymond rejected 32 shots on goal for Brampton. The Bombers incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
