Caledonia downs Brampton in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Caledonia Corvairs pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Brampton Bombers on a clutch goal by Matt Quilty.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Brampton faces elimination next time out.

Quilty was all over the ice for Caledonia, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Quilty scored the first of his two goals at 13:11 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Adam Brady assisted on the tally. Quilty's next tally made the score 5-4 Caledonia with 3:55 left in. Brandon Montour provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 52 seconds into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Bombers were unable to stop the Corvairs from sending pucks towards the net, and Caledonia eventually piled up 58 shots on goal. The Corvairs was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on nine chances with a man advantage.

Caledonia also got points from Montour, who also registered one goal and two assists. Connor Murphy also scored for Caledonia. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Jeff Swift, who had two and Spencer Gourlay, Greg Christmas, Mitch Brown, and Nate Mitton, who contributed one a piece.

Brampton made Corvairs' goaltenders to work in net, getting 47 shots and forcing 43 saves. Marcus DelConte made 23 stops and Justis Husak made 20. The Bombers stifled Caledonia's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Brampton was helped by Reid Jackman, who finished with one goal. Jackman scored 29 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Phil Caputo assisted on the tally. Brampton additionally got points from Jacob Hanlon, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Brampton also got a goal from Jake Derkach as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Matt Capicotto, who had one and Brandon Clelland, who had two.

The Corvairs ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major. Team's Ryan Moran and Simon Blythe were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Bryan Raymond recorded 53 saves for the Bombers. Brampton totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. The Bombers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Allan was ejected from the game.
