Caledonia erases deficit to stun Brampton, 4-3

The Caledonia Corvairs climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Brampton Bombers, 4-3.

Caledonia let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Corvairs took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Nate Mitton at 1:43 in the second period. Caledonia found itself down 3-1 after Brampton's Calvin Gomes put the puck home on the power play at 12:58 in the second period. After evening things up at 3-3 on a goal by Tyler Norrie at nine seconds in the third, the Corvairs got the game-winner from Norrie at 6:05 in the third period.

The win gave Caledonia a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Norrie had two goals and one assist to lead the Corvairs.

Caledonia's offense rang up 39 shots on the Bombers' net.

Jeff Swift also scored for Caledonia. More assists for Caledonia came via Brandon Montour, who had three and Ryan Blunt, Simon Blythe, Justis Husak, and Matt Quilty, who contributed one a piece.

Brampton kept the Corvairs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Husak made 29 saves on 32 shots.

The Bombers were helped by Michael Darrigo, who finished with one goal. Darrigo scored on the power play 6:17 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brampton. A holding penalty on Swift had put Brampton on the power play. Eric DiCarlo provided the assist. Brampton also got a goal from Nik Borschevsky as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Brady Clouthier, who had two and Kyle Allan and Brad Sheppard, who each chipped in one.

Caledonia incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. The Bombers' Erik Angeli stopped 35 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Brampton incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For the Bombers, Phil Caputo was ejected from the game.
