Welland rolls over Stoney Creek, 4-1

The Welland Jr. Canadians were firing on all cylinders against the Stoney Creek Warriors, and when the final buzzer sounded Jr. Canadians emerged with a 4-1 win.

The win by Welland clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Stoney Creek was stymied by the Jr. Canadians netminder Chris McDougall, who stopped 40 shots during the victory. McDougall certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.19 entering the contest.

Welland was led by CJ Stellato, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Stellato scored 15:34 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Welland. Riley Brooks assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Canadians stifled the Warriors' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Welland's offense rang up 42 shots on Stoney Creek's net.

Welland additionally got points from Braden Curry, who also had one goal and one assist. Chris Brown also scored for Welland. More assists for Welland came via Josh Gervais, who had two and Chris Langdon and Ryan Migliaccio, who each chipped in one.

The Warriors' offense rang up 41 shots on the Jr. Canadians' net.

Stoney Creek was led by Wesley St. Amand, who scored the team's only goal. St. Amand scored 17:44 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Welland. Marco Mattina provided the assist.

Welland incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Jr. Canadians ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Migliaccio was ejected from the game. Blake Richard made 38 saves for the Warriors on 42 shots. Stoney Creek incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
