Izaguirre nets hat trick, leads Port Colborne to 6-2 win over Fort ErieVale Center Fri, Mar 08, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Charlie Izaguirre lifted the Port Colborne Pirates to a 6-2 victory with a hat trick against the Fort Erie Meteors. Izaguirre notched his first tally 16:56 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:25 into the first and at 10:52 into the second.The win by Port Colborne clinched the best of seven series at 4-1. The Pirates made Meteors' netminders to work between the pipes, totaling 46 shots and forcing 40 saves. Connor Visca made 31 stops and Wyatt Pickrell made nine. Port Colborne's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Fort Erie's power play unit. Port Colborne additionally got points from Bryan Komasara, who also registered one goal and one assist and Dima Lavrenov, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Port Colborne also got a goal from Nick Berst as well. In addition, Port Colborne received assists from Michael Sharp, DYLAN BURDICK, Trevor Smith, and Jordan Warren, who each chipped in one and Nathan Judd Warren and Dayne Phillips, who contributed two a piece. The Meteors were helped by Jesse Pereira, who tallied one goal. Pereira scored on the power play 11:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Erie. Fort Erie had gained a power play chance when Thomas Sestini was whistled for holding. Andy Sturtz picked up the assist. Nik Passero also scored for Fort Erie. More assists for Fort Erie came via Dallas Ingram, who had one and Braeden Kavaravtzis, who had two. Real Cormier took the win and made 19 saves before being replaced by Morgan Hudson who made two saves. The Pirates incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Meteors incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
