Fort Erie rides Visca to victory over Port Colborne, 2-1

The Fort Erie Meteors relied on the sparkling performance of Connor Visca in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Port Colborne Pirates.

The win gave Fort Erie a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Meteors' penalty kill excelled, as Fort Erie gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

The Meteors were led by Andy Sturtz, who registered one goal and one assist. Sturtz scored 10:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Fort Erie. Austin Carroll picked up the assist.

Fort Erie also got a goal from Richard DeMarco as well. More assists for Fort Erie came via Braeden Kavaravtzis, who had one.

Port Colborne kept Fort Erie's goalie busy throughout the game, and Visca made 31 saves on 32 shots.

The Pirates were led by Pat Murphy, who scored the team's only goal. Murphy scored on the power play 8:03 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A tripping penalty on Kyle Marino had put Port Colborne on the power play. Dayne Phillips assisted on the tally.

The Meteors incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Real Cormier made 18 saves for the Pirates on 20 shots. Port Colborne incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
