MISSISSAUGA outlasts OTTAWA, 6-4

MISSISSAUGA and OTTAWA were evenly matched throughout their contest, but MISSISSAUGA made the most of its opportunities and won, 6-4.

MISSISSAUGA gained the winning advantage on a goal by Kaitlin Doering 17:58 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The win gave MISSISSAUGA a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

Kelly Mariani had two goals and one assist to lead MISSISSAUGA. Mariani scored the first of her two goals at 5:45 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Jillian Skinner provided the assist. Mariani's next tally made the score 4-4 with 9:26 left in the third period. Skinner assisted on the tally.

OTTAWA was unable to stop MISSISSAUGA from sending pucks towards the net, and MISSISSAUGA eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

MISSISSAUGA additionally got points from Victoria Bach, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Kristyn Capizzano, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for MISSISSAUGA were Ainsley MacMillan, who had one and Mikaela Lowater, who had three.

OTTAWA was helped by Rebecca Leslie, who registered one goal. Leslie scored 49 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 OTTAWA. OTTAWA also got points from Stacy Galasso, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. OTTAWA also got a goal from Erin Sauve as well. More assists for OTTAWA came via Caitlyn McLaren and Erica McCarney, who contributed one a piece.

MISSISSAUGA's Alysia DaSilva stopped 15 shots out of the 19 that she faced. MISSISSAUGA incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Sarah McGall made 34 saves for OTTAWA on 39 shots. OTTAWA incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
