Jambrosich leads St. Catharines over Buffalo, 9-1

Greg Jambrosich had two goals and three assists to lead the St. Catharines Falcons to a 9-1 victory over the Buffalo Jr. Blades.

Jambrosich found the back of the net 14:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 St. Catharines and again while 5:40 into the third to make the score 8-1 St. Catharines.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Buffalo faces elimination next time out.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:39 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

St. Catharines' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Buffalo power plays. The Falcons kept the Jr. Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ian Shorthouse made 39 saves on 48 shots. St. Catharines' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

St. Catharines also got points from Christian Harper, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Tyler Jackson, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jesse Miller, who also registered one goal and one assist, Mitch Bursey, who also had one goal and one assist, and Luke Karaim, who also grabbed two goals and two assists. Yanni Rallis also scored for St. Catharines. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Aaron Taylor, who had two, Spencer DeWolfe, who had three, and Kyle Woodhouse and Ed Creighton, who contributed one a piece.

Buffalo found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere nine shots against the Falcons' defense. The Jr. Blades struggled on the penalty kill, allowing St. Catharines to score three power play goals on four chances.

Buffalo was led by Robert Marlinski, who scored the team's only goal. Marlinski scored 12:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Seth Hamilton picked up the assist.

The Falcons' Jonathon D Ilario stopped eight shots out of the nine that he faced. St. Catharines ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Falcons, Mitch Bennett was ejected from the game. The Jr. Blades ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Buffalo ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Josh Gordon was ejected from the game.
