St. Catharines blows out Buffalo, 7-1Jack Gatecliff Rink Fri, Mar 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The St. Catharines Falcons had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Buffalo Jr. Blades. The win gave St. Catharines a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Greg Jambrosich had one goal and two assists to lead the Falcons. Jambrosich scored on the power play 17:38 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Catharines. A roughing penalty on Tom Hanna had put St. Catharines on the power play. Aaron Taylor assisted on the tally. The Falcons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Buffalo to score on any of its four power plays. The Jr. Blades were unable to stop St. Catharines from sending pucks towards the net, and the Falcons eventually piled up 49 shots on goal. St. Catharines additionally got points from Yanni Rallis, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Taylor, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Kyle Woodhouse also scored for St. Catharines. More assists for St. Catharines came via Ben Walsh, Jesse Miller, Jake Bowman, Mitch Bennett, and Mitch Bursey, who contributed one a piece and Jimmy Sheehan and Tyler Jackson, who each chipped in two. Stormer Santana recorded 24 saves for St. Catharines. The Falcons incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ian Shorthouse rejected 42 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Blades incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
