Sarnia downs Leamington in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Sarnia Arena Sat, Mar 02, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Sarnia Legionnaires pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Leamington Flyers on a clutch goal by Josh Kestner. With the win, Sarnia evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown. The Legionnaires were paced by Kestner, who registered one goal. Kestner scored 4:05 into to make the score 3-2 Sarnia. Jeff King picked up the assist. Sarnia kept Leamington's goalie busy throughout the game, and Austyn Roudebush made 37 saves on 40 shots. Davis Boyer also scored for Sarnia. Other players who recorded assists for Sarnia were Jason Teschke, who had one and Brent Sauve, who had two. The Legionnaires were unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Leamington eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. The Flyers were helped by Tony Spidalieri, who finished with one goal. Spidalieri scored on the power play 4:40 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Leamington had gotten the advantage when Sarnia's Chad Beauchamp was sent off for holding. Kyle Shaw provided the assist. Leamington also got points from Shaw, who also racked up one goal and one assist. The Legionnaires' Sean Parker stopped 44 shots out of the 46 that he faced. Sarnia incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Legionnaires ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nathan Mater was ejected from the game. The Flyers incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
