Sarnia falls to Leamington in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Leamington Flyers pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Sarnia Legionnaires on a clutch goal by Tony Spidalieri.

The win gave Leamington a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Although the Flyers was up by as many as two goals in the second period, Sarnia kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Legionnaires pulled to within 4-3 on a power play goal by Derek D`Andrea at 4:29 in the third period.

Spidalieri was all over the ice for Leamington, as he tallied two goals in the win.

The Flyers' offense rang up 55 shots on Sarnia's net.

Leamington also got a goal from Chris Lugosi as well. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were Kyle Shaw, Mitchell Amante, Eric Leardi, and Brett Langlois, who each chipped in one and Alex Seguin and Nathan Opblinger, who contributed two a piece.

The Legionnaires got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Sarnia also got points from Matt Cimetta, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Jeff King also scored for Sarnia. More assists for Sarnia came via Josh Kestner, Jason Teschke, and Steve Farlow, who each chipped in one.

Leamington's Matt Mancina stopped 15 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Flyers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Sean Parker rejected 50 shots on goal for Sarnia. The Legionnaires incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
