Lindsay hangs on, beats Aurora 2-1Aurora Community Centre Fri, Mar 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Dylan Fitze scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Lindsay Muskies held off the challenges of the Aurora Tigers in a tough 2-1 win. A goal 7:58 into the the first period by Fitze proved to be the game winner, and powered Lindsay to the victory William Pelletier assisted on the tally.The win by the Muskies broke a deadlock and gave Lindsay a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series. The Muskies were led by goalie Tanner Davis, who finished with 50 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Davis will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.53. Lindsay pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes. The Muskies' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Aurora power plays. Lindsay forced Aurora goalie Brett Sinclair to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. Lindsay additionally got points from Pelletier, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Cole Murduff and Dean Klomp, who each chipped in one. The Tigers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Aurora's offense rang up 51 shots on the Muskies' net. The Tigers were led by Kory Kennedy, who scored the team's only goal. Kennedy scored 2:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aurora. David Iacono picked up the assist. Sinclair rejected 44 shots on goal for Aurora. The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
