St. Michaels beats Toronto 3-2 after comeback scare

The Toronto Junior Canadiens tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the St. Michaels Buzzers held on for a 3-2 victory.

St. Michaels took a 3-1 lead during the second period, only to have Toronto storm back on a Anthony Repaci goal 3:32 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The win by the Buzzers clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

St. Michaels was paced by Jake Clements, who tallied one goal. Clements scored 12:33 into the second period to make the score St. Michaels. Stephen Pietrobon picked up the assist.

The Buzzers kept the Junior Canadiens' goalie busy throughout the game, and Denny Dubblestyne made 30 saves on 33 shots.

St. Michaels also got a goal from David Italiano as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Ian Edmondson, Jake Evans, and Matt Buckles, who each chipped in one.

Toronto put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Michaels to score on any of its three power plays. The Buzzers were unable to stop the Junior Canadiens from sending pucks towards the net, and Toronto eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

The Junior Canadiens were helped by Joseph Santino, who racked up one goal. Santino scored 4:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Michaels. Danny Liscio provided the assist. In addition, Toronto received assists from Daniel Lombardi, Adam Logozzo, and Aaron Spivak, who contributed one a piece.

Adrian Ignagni recorded 42 saves for St. Michaels. The Buzzers ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. St. Michaels ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Patrick McCarron was ejected from the game. Toronto totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For the Junior Canadiens, Connor Prudames and Repaci were ejected from the contest.
