TORONTO hangs on, beats LONDON 2-1

TORONTO beat LONDON, 2-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

TORONTO took over the lead for good with a goal by Audrey Potts at 8:42 in the first period. Jessica Gazzola assisted on the tally.

The win gave TORONTO a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Potts had a great game for TORONTO, netting two goals.

TORONTO stifled LONDON's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

In addition, TORONTO received assists from Morgan Sly, who had one.

LONDON did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 12 shots on net to force 11 saves.

LONDON was led by Paige Horton, who scored the team's only goal. Horton scored 8:20 into the second period to make the score 2-1 TORONTO. Clare McKellar provided the assist.

Maggie Prince made 11 saves for TORONTO on 12 shots. TORONTO incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. LONDON's starting goalie, Jessica Dodds, made six saves and finished with the loss before she was taken out in favor of Carley Molnar, who stopped 16 shots. LONDON incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
