WHITBY squeaks by MISSISSAUGA, 4-3Mattamy Athletic Centre Sat, Mar 30, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between WHITBY and MISSISSAUGA was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end WHITBY emerged with a 4-3 win. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Hanna Bunton secured the win for WHITBY with a goal in the third period. The win gave WHITBY a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. Bunton was all over the ice for WHITBY, as she grabbed two goals in the win. WHITBY's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three MISSISSAUGA power plays. WHITBY also got points from Cassidy Vinkle, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. WHITBY also got a goal from Rhyen McGill as well. In addition, WHITBY received assists from Krista Yip-Chuck, who had two and Madison Badeau, Alex Moore, Lauren Williams, and Nicole Martindale, who contributed one a piece. MISSISSAUGA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow WHITBY to score on any of its five power plays. MISSISSAUGA kept WHITBY's goalie busy throughout the game, and Hannah Baker made 30 saves on 33 shots. MISSISSAUGA was helped by Kelly Mariani, who tallied one goal. Mariani scored 10:23 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Victoria Bach provided the assist. MISSISSAUGA additionally got points from Kaitlin Doering, who also registered one goal and one assist. Hilary Lloyd also scored for MISSISSAUGA. WHITBY incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. MISSISSAUGA's Alysia DaSilva stopped 17 shots out of the 21 that she faced. MISSISSAUGA incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. |
