Rochester Lourdes squeaks by Northfield, 5-4

The game between the Rochester Lourdes Eagles and the Northfield Raiders was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Rochester Lourdes emerged with a 5-4 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Griffen Slightham's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The win gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Rochester Lourdes kept Northfield's goalie busy throughout the game, and Spencer Jones made 34 saves on 39 shots. Penalties took their toll on the Eagles, as their penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. Rochester Lourdes' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Rochester Lourdes also got points from Ben Weir, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Alex Funk, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Rochester Lourdes also got a goal from Montana Streit as well. In addition, Rochester Lourdes received assists from Jason Samuelson, who had two.

The Eagles were unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Northfield eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

The Raiders were led by Nathan Scofield, who registered one goal and two assists. Scofield scored on the power play 15:10 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Northfield. Northfield had gained a power play chance when Karl Krecke was whistled for high sticking. Logan VonRuden assisted on the tally. Northfield additionally got points from Andrew Scofield, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Taylor Freiermuth, who also had one goal and one assist. Andrew Carroll also scored for Northfield.

Jack Berkel rejected 27 shots on goal for Rochester Lourdes. The Eagles incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Raiders incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
