Funk's hat trick boosts Rochester Lourdes over Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter, 8-2Rochester: Graham Arena 1 Thu, Feb 21, 2013 Alex Funk lifted the Rochester Lourdes Eagles to an 8-2 victory with a hat trick against the Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter Bulldogs. Funk notched his first tally 6:26 into the second period. He then added goals at 7:38 into the second and at 7:59 into the third.The win gave Rochester Lourdes a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. The Eagles put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter to score on any of its three power plays. Rochester Lourdes kept the Bulldogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Chris Amsden made 42 saves on 50 shots. Rochester Lourdes also got points from Ben Weir, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Jason Samuelson, who also racked up one goal and four assists, and Karl Krecke, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Montana Streit also scored for Rochester Lourdes. In addition, Rochester Lourdes received assists from Kane Carstens, McKay Carstens, and Luke Morrey, who contributed one a piece. Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter's offense was handcuffed by the Eagles' defensive play, and the Bulldogs managed only five shots on goal during the game. Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter did not rack up many penalties in the contest, registering only one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Bulldogs were helped by Brock Solomon, who grabbed one goal. Solomon scored 15:45 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Levi Steuck picked up the assist. Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter also got a goal from Sam Wenner as well. More assists for Le Sueur-Henderson/St. Peter came via Austin Braun and Ryan Hoehn, who each chipped in one. Jack Berkel rejected three shots on goal for Rochester Lourdes. The Eagles totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-1 on the power play.
