New Ulm's Helget deadly on offense in 10-0 win against Redwood ValleyNew Ulm Civic Center Thu, Feb 21, 2013 Brandon Helget was all over the ice for the New Ulm Eagles, as he tallied two goals in New Ulm's 10-0 win over the Redwood Valley Cardinals. Helget scored at 13:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Ulm and again while 7:52 into the second to make the score 7-0 New Ulm.The win gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. New Ulm kept Redwood Valley's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jordan Houle made 35 saves on 45 shots. New Ulm additionally got points from Judd Davis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Colin Huffman, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Ryan Busch, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for New Ulm included Blake Neumann, who had three and Collin Kral and Brach Kraus, who each put in one. In addition, New Ulm received assists from Chad Ludewig, Alex Stark, Josh Cooper, and Mitch Neid, who each chipped in one and Wyatt Peterson and Jon Kopacek, who contributed two a piece. The Eagles' defense shut down the Cardinals' forwards for much of the game, and Redwood Valley got off only six shots during the contest. New Ulm's Kraus stopped six shots out of the six that he faced. The Eagles incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. The Cardinals ended with no penalties and went 0-for-2 on the power play. |
