Huge game by Dougherty boosts St. Thomas Academy over Chisago Lakes Area, 7-0

The St. Thomas Academy Cadets had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-0 win over the Chisago Lakes Area Wildcats.

The win gave St. Thomas Academy a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

The Cadets got the win thanks to a great game by Jack Dougherty, who had two goals and two assists. Dougherty scored the first of his two goals at 11:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Thomas Academy. Gunnar Regan picked up the assist. Dougherty's next tally made the score 4-0 St. Thomas Academy with 17:29 left in the second period. Austin Sattler provided the assist.

St. Thomas Academy kept Chisago Lakes Area's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jacob Dubose made 46 saves on 53 shots. The Cadets did not rack up many penalties in the contest, registering only one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The defensemen of St. Thomas Academy were also effective in the Wildcats' zone, and came away with three goals.

St. Thomas Academy additionally got points from Alex Johnson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Christiano Versich, who also had one goal and one assist. St. Thomas Academy also got a goal from Wyatt Schmidt as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Thomas Academy were T.J. Samec, Tom Novak, and Dan McManus, who contributed one a piece.

Chisago Lakes Area did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting five shots on net to force five saves.

David Zevnik rejected five shots on goal for the Cadets. St. Thomas Academy registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Wildcats incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
