Spring Lake Park blows out Achiever NE Academy, 6-3

The Spring Lake Park Panthers were firing on all cylinders against the Achiever NE Academy Aces, and when the final buzzer sounded Panthers emerged with a 6-3 win.

The win gave Spring Lake Park a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Brandon Richard had a great game for the Panthers, netting two goals. Richard scored at 5:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Spring Lake Park and again while 2:15 into the second to make the score 4-1 Spring Lake Park.

Spring Lake Park's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Achiever NE Academy power plays. The Panthers forced Achiever NE Academy goalie Cameron Madrid to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Spring Lake Park also got points from Austen Long, who also registered one goal and one assist. Spring Lake Park also had goals scored by Jacob Nystrom, who had one and Nick Heid, who had two. In addition, Spring Lake Park received assists from Pete Seinko, who had four and Deven Sunell and David Taylor, who contributed two a piece.

The Aces were helped by Baron Thompson, who racked up one goal. Thompson scored 11:02 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Spring Lake Park. Cory Sprague assisted on the tally. Achiever NE Academy additionally got points from Ryan Finnegan, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Achiever NE Academy also got a goal from Tyler Thompson as well. More assists for Achiever NE Academy came via Cameron Hamlet, who had one.

JT Hirschi recorded 14 saves for Spring Lake Park. The Panthers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Cameron Madrid made 30 saves for Achiever NE Academy on 36 shots. The Aces incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
