Chisago Lakes Area uses big second period to beat St. Paul Highland Park, 7-0

The St. Paul Highland Park Scots allowed the Chisago Lakes Area Wildcats to net four goals during the second period and fell, 7-0.

The win gave Chisago Lakes Area a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Bradee Thompson had two goals and one assist to lead the Wildcats. Thompson scored the first of his two goals at 3:23 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Chisago Lakes Area. Jacob Breyfogle assisted on the tally. Thompson's next tally made the score 5-0 Chisago Lakes Area with 5:15 left in the second period. Cristian Haskins picked up the assist.

Chisago Lakes Area stifled St. Paul Highland Park's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Wildcats kept the Scots' goalie busy throughout the game, and Howie Sands made 50 saves on 57 shots.

Chisago Lakes Area additionally got points from Haskins, who also had one goal and one assist. Blake Lizotte also scored for Chisago Lakes Area. Other players who recorded assists for Chisago Lakes Area were Christopher Ritter, who had two and Trevor Lushanko, Daniel Sargeant, Benjamin Knaak, and Zachary Lambrecht, who each chipped in one.

St. Paul Highland Park's offense was handcuffed by Chisago Lakes Area's defensive play, and the Scots managed only three shots on goal during the game.

Bryce Thompson made three saves for the Wildcats on three shots. Chisago Lakes Area incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. St. Paul Highland Park incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
