Hermantown rips St. Cloud Cathedral, 4-1

The St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders had trouble finding ways to stop the Hermantown Hawks, which beat Crusaders, 4-1.

The Hawks were led by Scott Wasbotten, who finished with one goal. Wasbotten scored 8:28 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Hermantown. Christian Wasbotten assisted on the tally.

Hermantown's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three St. Cloud Cathedral power plays.

Others who scored for Hermantown included Travis Koepke, who had one and Bo Gronseth, who had two. In addition, Hermantown received assists from Zach Kramer, who had one and Chris Benson, who had two.

Adam Smith made 23 saves for the Hawks on 24 shots. Hermantown incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Josh Robak recorded 25 saves for St. Cloud Cathedral.

The Hawks will move on to represent Sect 5A in the 2013 Class A State tourney.
