St. Cloud Apollo beats Little Falls 6-3 as Omann gets hat trick

The Little Falls Flyers could not stop the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles' Jason Omann, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win.

Omann's first goal came 6:43 into the second period. He then added goals at 9:32 into the second and at 26 seconds into the third.

 

St. Cloud Apollo now moves on to represent Section 6A in the 2013 Class A State tourney held at the Xcel Energy Center.

The Eagles stifled Little Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

St. Cloud Apollo also got a goal from Jared Christen as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Cloud Apollo were Grady Ewing, who had one and Paul Kenney, who had three.

The Flyers did not rack up many penalties in the contest, racking up only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Little Falls was led by Thomas Miller, who racked up one goal and one assist. Miller scored 3:00 into the third period to make the score 4-2 St. Cloud Apollo. Luke Majerle assisted on the tally. Little Falls also got points from Majerle, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Taylor Drager also scored for Little Falls. More assists for Little Falls came via Jack Schulte, who had one.

St. Cloud Apollo's Nick Althaus stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Eagles totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Michael Stumpf rejected 18 shots on goal for the Flyers. Little Falls registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
