The Morris/Benson Area Storm were firing on all cylinders against the Breckenridge/Wahpeton Blades, and when the final buzzer sounded Storm emerged with a 5-2 win.

The win gave Morris/Benson Area a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Tanner Picht had one goal and two assists to lead the Storm. Picht scored 7:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Morris/Benson Area. Mac Beyer assisted on the tally.

Breckenridge/Wahpeton was unable to stop Morris/Benson Area from sending pucks towards the net, and the Storm eventually piled up 59 shots on goal. Morris/Benson Area did not rack up many penalties in the contest, finishing with only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Others who scored for Morris/Benson Area included Brody Gimberlin, who had two and Corey Goff and Riley Blake, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Morris/Benson Area were Andrew Rentz, Taner Gimberlin, and Jordan Staples, who each chipped in one.

The Blades put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Storm to score on any of their four power plays. Breckenridge/Wahpeton did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 12 shots on net to force 10 saves.

Kyle Kennedy rejected 10 shots on goal for Morris/Benson Area. Michael Withuski recorded 54 saves for the Blades. Breckenridge/Wahpeton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
