Thief River Falls/Goodridge beats Detroit Lakes 8-1 as Engelstad gets hat trickRalph Engelstad Thu, Feb 21, 2013 The Detroit Lakes Lakers could not stop the Thief River Falls/Goodridge Prowlers' Logan Engelstad, who tallied a hat trick in an 8-1 win. Engelstad got on the scoresheet 2:00 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:10 into the first and at 8:55 into the second.The win gave Thief River Falls/Goodridge a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. The Prowlers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Detroit Lakes to score on any of its four power plays. Thief River Falls/Goodridge's offense rang up 68 shots on the Lakers' net. Thief River Falls/Goodridge also got points from Isak Bergland, who also registered one goal and one assist and Ian Lund, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Chris Forney also scored for Thief River Falls/Goodridge. Other players who recorded assists for Thief River Falls/Goodridge were Murphy Fellman, Kael Fontaine, Logan Ose, Zeb Nelson, and Adam Pancoast, who each chipped in one and Grady Pederson and Wyatt Ortloff, who contributed two a piece. Detroit Lakes did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 10 shots on net to force nine saves. The Lakers were led by Ryan Deconcini, who scored the team's only goal. Deconcini scored 3:01 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Thief River Falls/Goodridge. Austin Rusness provided the assist. Tanner Holmes made nine saves for the Prowlers on 10 shots. Thief River Falls/Goodridge incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. MacKenzie Steele recorded 60 saves for Detroit Lakes. The Lakers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
