Burlington falls to Milton in overtime, 7-6 (OT)

The Milton Icehawks' Brad Kobryn scored 3:33 into overtime to beat the Burlington Cougars, 7-6 (OT).

Daniel Holt had two goals and two assists to lead Milton. Holt scored the first of his two goals at 10:07 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Milton. Shane Bennett picked up the assist. Holt's next tally made the score 6-5 Milton with 1:59 left in the second period. Bryce Abraham provided the assist.

The Icehawks' penalty kill excelled, as Milton gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Icehawks forced Burlington's netminders to work all game long, firing 41 shots and forcing 34 saves. Brock Novak made 19 stops and Carmine Alfano made 15. Milton stifled the Cougars' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Icehawks surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Milton averages 3.8 goals per game.

Milton also got points from Kobryn, who also had one goal and one assist and Bennett, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Tye Campbell also scored for Milton. In addition, Milton received assists from Justin Devincentis, who had two, Jonathon Buttitta, who had four, and Austin Kosack, Jake Baird, and Michael Capicotto, who each chipped in one.

The Icehawks were unable to stop Burlington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cougars eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Burlington outdid its season average for goals scored. The Cougars have scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Burlington was led by Tyler Lepore, who grabbed two goals. Lepore scored the first of his two goals at 2:21 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Milton. Jeremy Gottzmann picked up the assist. Lepore's next tally made the score 5-5 with 2:26 left in the second period. Mark Rodgers provided the assist. Burlington additionally got points from Cooper Richards, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Rodgers, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Burlington also got a goal from Adam Burnett as well. Other players who recorded assists for Burlington were Steven Mueller, who had two and Daniel Campbell, Christino D'Giancento, Alex Landry, and Adam Glynn, who contributed one a piece.

Justin Urquhart recorded 31 saves for Milton. The Icehawks totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For Milton, Campbell and Daniel Poutscongas were ejected from the contest. The Cougars ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For Burlington, Richards was ejected from the game.
