Poehling leads Lakeville North over Lakeville South, 6-3

Behind a great game by Nick Poehling, who had two goals and two assists, the Lakeville North Panthers defeated the Lakeville South Cougars, 6-3.

Poehling scored at 6:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakeville North and again while 7:33 into the first to make the score 2-1 Lakeville North.

The Panthers stifled Lakeville South's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Lakeville North additionally got points from Jack Diercks, who also racked up two goals and one assist and Erik Rutt, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Lakeville North also got a goal from Matt Ostdiek as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lakeville North were Jack Poehling, Tristan Hazlett, Alex Wood, and Brendan Cole, who contributed one a piece.

Lakeville North was unable to stop the Cougars from sending pucks towards the net, and Lakeville South eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. The Cougars did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Lakeville South was helped by Weston Baumann, who registered one goal and one assist. Baumann scored 4:12 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Justin Doeden provided the assist. Lakeville South also got points from Mack Farley, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Ben Freemark also scored for Lakeville South. In addition, Lakeville South received assists from Nick Oelrich, who had one and Cameron Jackson, who had two.

The Panthers' Will Dupont stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Lakeville North incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tyler Schumacher made 22 saves for the Cougars on 28 shots. Lakeville South registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
