Burnsville boosted by Mallon's play in net, beats Prior Lake 2-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Chris Mallon helped the Burnsville Blaze defeat the Prior Lake Lakers, 2-1.

The win gave Burnsville a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

The Blaze were led by Dylan Weigel, who grabbed one goal. Weigel scored 11:12 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Burnsville. Anthony Rikberg picked up the assist.

Prior Lake was unable to stop Burnsville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blaze eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Burnsville also got a goal from Tyler Sheehy as well. In addition, Burnsville received assists from Brock Boesser and Cole Borchardt, who each chipped in one.

The Lakers forced Burnsville goalie Mallon to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Prior Lake did not rack up many penalties in the contest, finishing with a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

The Lakers were led by Joey Kleven, who scored the team's only goal. Kleven scored 40 seconds into the third period to make the score 1-1.

Mallon recorded 36 saves for the Blaze. Burnsville finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-1 with the man advantage. Jordan Moran made 29 saves for Prior Lake on 31 shots. The Lakers registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
