The Hagersville Hawks could not stop the Ayr Centennials' Brett Gibson, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win. Gibson got on the scoresheet 13:02 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:21 into the second and at 13:27 into the third.The win gave Ayr a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 16:58 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. The Centennials' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Hagersville power plays. Ayr also got points from Brandon Christopher, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Declan Kaster also scored for Ayr. In addition, Ayr received assists from Adam Fisher, who had three and Andrew Richard, Mike McKnight, and Lee Doherty, who each chipped in one. The defense for Hagersville tightened up when it had players in the penalty box, as it let in one goal on 11 Ayr power plays. The Hawks were helped by Hayden Baird, who racked up one goal. Baird scored 7:42 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Ayr. Eric Drehmer provided the assist. Hagersville additionally got points from Brad Hornby, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Hagersville also got a goal from Ryan McLaren as well. More assists for Hagersville came via Jesse Ross, Mitch Green, Jacob Erwin, and Derek Medeiros, who contributed one a piece. The Centennials' Doherty stopped 27 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Ayr ended with 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors and two majors. For the Centennials, Jordan Pettitt and McKnight were ejected from the contest. Matt Murphy took the loss and made 17 saves before being replaced by Aaron Cormier who made seven saves. Hagersville ended with 65 minutes in penalty time with five minors and three majors. Team's Drehmer and McLaren were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
