Dresden falls to Essex in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Essex 73s pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the Dresden Kings on a clutch goal by Scott Bromley.

The win by Essex clinched the best of seven series at 4-0.

The 73s overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Essex trailed 5-3 after a power play goal by Dresden's Josh Beatty at 47 seconds in the third period. The 73s tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Bromley at 18:58 in the third period.

Bromley was all over the ice for Essex, as he registered two goals in the win.

The 73s' offense rang up 36 shots on the Kings' net.

Essex also got points from Jordan Brohman, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Corey Beaulieu also scored for Essex. More assists for Essex came via Aaron Thibert, who had two and Marco Canzoneri, Kevin Boggs, Tyler Raymont, Alex Garon, Colin DeLaet, and Daniel Slipchuck, who each chipped in one.

Dresden was led by Jesse Allen, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Allen scored on the power play 18:32 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Dresden. The Kings had gained a power play chance when Garon was whistled for tripping. Beatty picked up the assist. Dresden additionally got points from Beatty, who also had one goal and one assist. Dresden also got a goal from Taylor Sisson as well. In addition, Dresden received assists from Jeff Vanrabaeys, who had three and Alex Schmidt, Alex Ritchie, Wade Esselman, and Macks Holmes, who contributed one a piece.

Essex took out Arren Romeril after he had made 12 saves and installed Trevor Wheaton in goal, where he finished with five saves and the win. The 73s incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Brent Paxton recorded 30 saves for Dresden. The Kings incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Dresden, Mike Myers was ejected from the game.
