Belle River survives Wheatley comeback, wins 4-2Wheatley Area Arena Mon, Feb 25, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Belle River Canadiens came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Wheatley Sharks, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory. Belle River led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Canadiens' Mike Ditty's scored at 19:11 in the third period to put Belle River up 5-2. With the win, the Canadiens evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown. Belle River was led by Chris DiNatale, who registered two goals. DiNatale scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 14:14 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Belle River. The Canadiens had gained a power play chance when Sebastian Kanally was whistled for bench / coach. Mark Manchurek provided the assist. DiNatale's next tally on the power play made the score 4-1 Belle River with 5:54 left in the second period. Belle River had taken the advantage when Wheatley's Lucas Raffoul got sent off for roughing. Billy Eansor assisted on the tally. Belle River additionally got points from Ditty, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Donnovan Plummer, who also had one goal and one assist. Belle River also got a goal from James Shelton as well. The Sharks were helped by Riley Babkirk, who tallied one goal. Babkirk scored on the power play 18:01 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Belle River. An interference penalty on Guy Levesque had put Wheatley on the power play. Kanally provided the assist. Austin Fontaine also scored for Wheatley. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Kurtis Ouellette and Brett Babkirk, who contributed one a piece. Zakk Olvin recorded 22 saves for the Canadiens. Belle River incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Marc Tremblay rejected 25 shots on goal for the Sharks. Wheatley incurred 46 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors. For the Sharks, Kyle Quick was ejected from the game.
